The many adventures of Wymount!

Soooo we have a few pictures we have taken at our apartment, but they are all on Scotty's phone, so 2 weeks and 1 day after we have been married, here is the first "married" post.

I made baked potatoes for dinner tonight (without tinfoil, thank-you) and when Scotty was mostly done with his he decided chili would be a good compliment.

I was like, OK!  We have a can of Chili in our pantry....and a can-opening mechanism...(which is really a bottle opener/can puncturer thingy).

I didn't think however, that all the cans I have opened with this mechanism have not had thick, chili-like contents and I have been able to dump them out of the little holes I had made.

Fortunately, my husband being the THINKER that he is, ran for his tool set:

Thus, we had Chili with our potatoes tonight.

Good jorb, Scotty!

Shout Out!

An official shout out to my best friend's father's blog:

Any questions on how to do ANYTHING related to cleaning your clothing?  Ask away!

So far he has covered Mustard and Protein stains...VERY useful information if you ask me!  Especially for somebody who's about to be doing a lot more laundry in her life! Ü

The Amazing CAKE!

I made this cake for my (almost) mother-in-law's birthday party. She requested it after tasting my first attempt, but I improved upon the recipe and am pretty sure the result was AWESOME (Assuming everybody who ate it was telling the truth about how much they LOVED it).

: )

  1. 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  2. 1/2 cup white sugar
  3. 1 egg
  4. 1 (18.25 ounce) package Devil’s food cake mix (calls for extra water, eggs, and vegetable oil)
  5. 1 cup sour cream
  6. 1 tsp vanilla

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), or to the temperature recommended on the cake mix package.
  2. Prepare chocolate cake mix according to package directions, plus the sour cream and vanilla; but do not bake. In separate bowl cream together cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg until well blended.
  3. Line cupcake tins (or cake pan) with cupcake papers. Fill 2/3 full with chocolate cake batter. Add 1 teaspoon cream cheese mixture to the center, and top with more cake batter. ****See note below****
  4. Bake according to package directions for cupcakes. Cool and frost with cream cheese frosting (below).

Frosting (I halved this makes A LOT of frosting if you don’t):
2, 8-oz packages of cream cheese
1/2 cup butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Cream together butter and cream cheese
mix in vanilla
gradually add sugar
****Note: For the cake I made on sunday, I used part of the cream cheese frosting for one layer of filling, topped it with cake batter, added a chocolate cream cheese frosting layer (made by adding cocoa powder to taste), topped by the remaining cake batter.

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars? I could REALLY use a wish right now...

I couldn't resist posting this was taken the weekend before he left for the MTC and it is one of my most favorite pictures ever!  Don't be fooled by the picture, however, at this point in time we were nothing more than good friends.  It was not decided until August of 2009 that we were going to date when he got home from his mission.  Those last four months were SOOOO long.  seriously.

First Date...
Scotty came home from his mission on December 11, 2009. Our first date was on December 12. It was a double date with my best friend, Manda and her boyfriend, Trevor.  Trevor had been given some awesome tickets to the MOTAB Christmas Concert and it was the perfect thing for us all of us to do that night.  I cannot tell you how excited I was to finally have him home..seriously, I cried when I saw him for the first time!  I talked to him on the phone before I saw him, and I was FREAKING OUT.  I have two witnesses who can testify.  Funny thing about that night, when we got to the doorstep, we both knew what the other wanted to have happen, but it was awkward with Manda and Trevor sitting in the car....NO DOUBT they were watching us, so Scotty simply said "How about we take care of this at another, less awkward time?"  I totally agreed so we hugged each other and said goodnight.  I knew this was going to be the beginning of something awesome  :)

The Homecoming:
Anywho...the day after our first date was his homecoming.  I was floating on cloud 9 and was soooo happy to see him again!  My sister, Sandy and I had been working diligently on this awesome quilt to give to him at his homecoming, but it wasn't quite finished when we needed it to bless their hearts, Sandy and Manda sat in the foyer sewing the binding onto this quilt to see if we couldn't finish it in time to give to him at his house.

Success!  They got it finished and I could not wait to give it to him :)  I talked to his mom about when I should give it to him and she wanted me to wait until after everybody except family had gone home, but I had to leave and go to a special choir rehearsal at my ward (it was the dress rehearsal for our special Christmas program, and me being the pianist, could not get out of it).  We decided we could give it to him now and so we did.  hehe.  cute, eh?  Yes.  I was totally wearing the copper necklace he sent me for my birthday a few months back.  I love it!

Courtship and such
Since the homecoming, Scotty and I have been dating nonstop. When Christmas came around, he gave me a copper bracelet that matches my birthday necklace! Yes, he is awesome, awesome, awesome! His mom gave me a really cute locket necklace (see photo at left) which I also adore.  At this point in time there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to marry him.  I just had to wait for him to decide the same about me :)

Lil' Audie
This is the build a bear we built together as part of my Christmas present.  It has a recording of Scotty saying "Oh weawwy?" in its paw :-)  Isn't she adoreable?  We were kinda rushed when thinking of what to name her...but it works!

New Year's Eve
Scotty and I didn't know what we were going to do on New Year's eve, but we eventually ended up at my sister's apartment playing wii games after mi familia went to see Christmas lights in Spanish Fork (or Springville....i never remember which is which...) anywho, this night was particularly special to me because after we welcomed the new year and left the apartment, Scotty let me know for the first time that he wanted to and had intentions of marrying me.  Ü

It is now May 3 & we have 113 days left until that blessed day...

The next 90 days are going to be difficult with him being in LA ..... but I know we'll survive & we will be able to start our lives together soon.

GREAT job, Scotty!

Round 1 Engagement Pictures!

Hey there, folks!

Sandy (my sis) took pictures of Scotty & I for our first go at engagement pictures!  I thought I'd share some of my favorite results with y'all:

I LOVE how this one turned out.  we are literally rock stars.  or something awesome like that Ü
It was a cool pic when I first looked at it, but then I played with a few settings in iPhoto and all of a sudden the mountains showed up and the awesomeness level of it shot through the roof.  I mean, just look at it!

OK.  can  you say adoreable!?  (shh don't tell anyone, but I'm covering the Nike symbol on his

It was a pretty funky TROLLY CAR.  note that it is not a bus, but there is a waterslide next to it.

hehe.  This one is the background on my computer.

This is one of Scotty's favs.  Cute, eh?  it was FREEZING.  don't be fooled by the sand and my bare feet lol

Sitting at temple square...

This one is pretty cute i think.  It's going to be my new profile pic...muahaha

That's all for now!

We are going to have another photoshoot later in the summer when I go visit him in LA  :)  It should be pretty awesome and fun and then we can get started on invitations!  WOOT.

The Proposal Ü

K, folks!  Here it is!  The WHOLE story!
So, we get to Disneylalnd, and despite the rain we were having a jolly good time!  It was Saturday, but since there was so much rain the crowds were not as bad as they could have been.  I was just dandy happy to be at the park with the family so there was nothing that was going to get me down.  Scotty, however, was acting a little bit weird.  He was spending a lot of time talking to Josh and to be honest it was a little bit annoying that our first day in the park he was running off so much without me.  I couldn’t get upset, though, I mean we were in Disneyland, the happiest place on earth!

As would any silly, daydreaming girl, I had the thought (on more than one occasion) of how AWESOME it would be if Scotty were to propose at Disneyland.  I mean, who wouldn’t want that??  It was fun to think about anyways, so I secretly kept hoping he was planning something amazing.
During fireworks the first night he told me we had an appointment to go look at rings on Tuesday (supposedly at the same place Christian got his ring), so all expectations for the rest of the trip were gone...kaput--honestly, kind of a letdown (I tried not to be too disappointed, however, since on Valentine’s day we had a discussion about how he was saving up his money and it was going to be a a month after the Disneyland trip...until he could get a ring).
The next day started and the family headed to California Adventure.  We didn’t make it too far, however, before it was decided somewhere that we needed to be in Disneyland.  So after waiting in the California Screamin’ line for about 10 minutes we ran over to Disneyland to meet up with everybody else.  The meeting place was the sword and the stone kodak area.  As we were sitting there, waiting for everybody to be gathered, a Disney employee called “Magic Pat” approached Chad and starting asking him about his ears (mickey mouse ears, that is).  He was wearing gold 50th anniversary ears and Pat was so impressed with them that she decided she was going to make our day “magical”.  At first nobody really knew what this was going to include, but Pat well exceeded any expectations we had.  The entire day we got to skip lines at the most popular rides...I even rode Peter Pan and Nemo for the first time!
After she got us on to It’s a Small World (and we counted more new characters than was apparently added...) she asked us if we would like to watch the fireworks show tonight from a special location: a boat from the storybook land ride.  Of course we all said yes, everything Pat had done thus far was amazing and who doesn’t want their own private fireworks show?  She was super excited to set all of this up and told us that she was going to make sure we had bubbles for our adventure, too.  Awesome?  Yes.
That wasn’t all, Pat also gave us reserved seating at the parade that afternoon.  We got to see the beginning of the parade, up close and personal.  It was awesome!  We made sure we got a picture with Pat when it was over so we could remember the magical day she had given us.
The time came for Pat to leave us, but before she left she set us up with a few more ride passes and made sure we knew where to go that evening for the fireworks.
We were so excited for the fireworks, that after we used all our passes, we didn’t know what to do until 9:15 came.  We decided to go on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and while standing in line, Christian and Marci were talking to me about various things.  The topic of rings came up somehow and I said something about how on Tuesday we had our appointment with Christian’s ring guy.  At first Christian seemed a little confused, and I was surprised Scotty hadn’t told him we had an appointment, but after Christian knew what was going on he started telling me how awesome this guy is and why he bought from him, etc.  (the funny part is, that Christian was confused about the Tuesday comment because his ring guy is in Provo...Scotty didn’t mention that part to me and led me to believe that he was based in L.A....hence why we had to meet with him while we were in California...Christian caught on to this halfway through the conversation and realized he needed to play along).
Time FINALLY came to get on the boats, and we had such a large group, that the Leavitt’s had to get on another boat.  The first location we stopped at was nice, and showed a lovely view of Sleeping Beauty’s castle, but we also had a lovely view of the trees that were blocking the fireworks.  We talked to our boat driver and we moved forward a bit so we were now next to “Agrabah” and had background music of “A Whole New World” playing in the background.  It was pretty romantic and we had fireworks going off on both sides of the boat, so no matter where you looked there were fireworks.  Partially through the show, Scotty called on everybody for their attention.

He said, “I don’t know how many of you realize this, but Magic Pat wasn’t around us today because of Chad’s ears.  I propose that there is a different reason... This reason is sitting here next to me....and is the person I want to spend the rest of my life with.”  {At this point I am freaking out, because you don’t say stuff like that on a boat with fireworks and Aladdin music after a day like we just had....}

Scotty reached in his pocket as he simultaneously knelt in the boat and said, “Audra Yocom, will you marry m--‘yes!’--e?”
more hugging...
more kissing...
more crying...followed by endless smiling.  Ü
He put the ring on my finger and as we were taking everything in Christian asked if that was a yes or not, because apparently my “yes” in the middle of his asking the question wasn’t heard very well.  Ü

I nodded because I could hardly talk at this point.
I could not believe what had just happened...
I have been waiting for this moment for so long....and WOW....
What a moment, what a day, what a trip.
What a story!

Pat set us up with some bride and groom ears, we had bubbles as promised, and these cute pins that say “Just  Engaged” on them with our names, and the date of the proposal on the back.  She also gave us some Mickey-shaped sugar cubes with a lovely ‘best wishes’ note.  Thanks, Magic Pat Ü
